My name is Katerina Wallace. I was born in Bulgaria, currently
residing in Las Vegas. My fascination with photography began when I
was a little girl and my dad allowed me to help him in his dark room. I
started out dipping photo paper in chemical baths, I could hardly wait
to see what image would appear.
My biggest influence would have to be Galen Rowel, a man of
extraordinary talent and vision of photographic styles, I have always
admired him. I would consider myself a purist, I believe in keeping
integrity of the natural scene. No matter how much technology
evolves, I believe a simple image should reflect my vision of the
real world, it should bear a very close resemblance to what I felt
and saw at the moment I photographed it. Photography is a way to
communicate my feelings about wild places, sharing the things that
touched my soul.
I use slow shutter speed, polarizer and natural density filters to create
intense colors. A good picture does not happen by accident. It takes
sometimes years of planning and going back to the same spot waiting
for the perfect display of magic light.
